Sweet!
July 6th, 2008Describe Your Day with Brands
June 22nd, 2008I was scouring around for logo design tips and articles, then I stumbled across Logo Design Love, a blog dedicated to logo and branding. From there I got to The Evolution of Tech Companies’ Logos that piqued my interest, since I designed the logo that my company is using.
Obsession with branding could be noted among them, which turned into humor when they describe their day in brands through the often imitated, Dear Jane Sample’s Fun with Brands.
This got a few of my chuckles, too.
I’ll leave it to your kind interpretation. And perhaps I might attempt the same too, when I have the time.
The Paradoxical Commandments
May 23rd, 2008by Dr. Kent M. Keith, quoted from Anyway, The Paradoxical Commandments:
People are illogical, unreasonable, and self-centered.
Love them anyway. If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish ulterior motives.
Do good anyway. If you are successful, you will win false friends and true enemies.
Succeed anyway.
QDB.us: Geek Grrlfriend
May 16th, 2008Tell me, do I have a geek for a girlfriend? We were yapping about Maxis Customer Service personnel parroting preprinted instructions for the customer to follow in order to help the troubleshooting process. Apparently this offended her, who claimed to have pretty good computer skills.
Me: Our kids won’t be like that.
Her: Yeah, they’ll talk Ruby and Perl.
And I was told that I laughed the hardest she has ever heard.
Serendipity 3 Closure
November 18th, 2007In an ironic twist of fate, the famed general store and restaurant known for the most expensive dessert at $25,000, featured in quite a few movies, and not counting the one that was named after it, was forced to shut down for failing a health inspection. Apparently caused by our favorite pest of homes, the rodents and roaches.
One could’ve imagined for a restaurant with a typical 4-hour queue and managed to offer a ludicuruosly expensive dessert could afford at least a decent sanitary practice.
I mean, is it really too hard to pay a regular visit to the cold and damp areas to check on vermins?
And by the way, here’s a recipe for the famed Frrrozen Hot Chocolate, courtesy of Oprah.
GuestMaster CGI Script Release
November 12th, 2007I built a Guestbook maintenance system back in 1999 using Perl. It uses flat text datafiles for storage, and supports templating control of output.
Halfway through development, I was introduced to PHP3 and MySQL. And I feel there’s no need to continue working on it. It’s been sitting on my hard drive for ages until I decided to release it after those years. It may not be relevant nowadays in the world of complex CMSes and stuff, but who knows, somebody might find a use there :)
I’ll let you judge it yourself:
The list of Guestbook entries page, with a link to the Add new entry page. This will be the where the visitors get to view and add entries.
The GuestMaster Admin screen. This is where you get to manage the posts. Username: admin, Password: admin. The change password function won’t work, though.
And the download links:
GuestMaster 0.1 Beta, Gzipped Tarball, 11kB
GuestMaster 0.1 Beta, Zipped, 16kB
I wouldn’t recommend you using it in production environment as it is not tested. Besides, it is flawed security-wise on many areas. I trust you people to figure it out in a short time.
I am offering this script with no warranty. No support or whatever. Use it at your own risk.
Grocery Shopping and Religious Dishes
October 15th, 2007Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri, people. May we all celebrate it in joyeous peace.
The day before ‘Eid, we went shopping. While browsing through the departmental store, I found these:
Pilsbury’s Devil’s Food Cake mix, for the unholy ones out there.
And Buddha Jumps Over the Wall is the one that made me laugh really hard.

A Dog Just Got Away with My Left Sneaker!
July 13th, 2007I have been a proud owner of a pair of all-black Puma Frankenclyde for nearly 4 years. It’s what I wear when I go to work, to the movies… it has always been with me through think and thin. I adore it more than even my car.
That is why the number of times the soles peel off, I’d superglue it back on. Some of my friends even advised me to get a new pair (can’t say I’d disagree, it is 4 years old and worn already) and each time I defended the shoe. It’s comfortable and I like it.
Update: I’ve posted images of the mutilated shoe.
Geek Alert!
June 5th, 2007I am quite at a loss of words when a friend confided to me this:
Him: nak tau satu kisah?
Me: apa kisah?
Him: ada la sorang kwn aku ni.
Him: dekat status y! dia.
Him: “i love you 218.111.150.10″
Him: 218 tu IP awek dia.
Him: ahahaha.
Him: ini sudah kronik.
Me: WTF
I don’t know about you, but this is just sick.
